New Construction Painting for General Contractors Who Run Tight Schedules

On a new construction project, the painter is rarely the problem until suddenly the painter is the problem. Chroma Coatings works to keep that from happening. We are a commercial painting subcontractor built to move inside an active jobsite, share space with other trades, and hit the dates on the GC’s schedule rather than the ones we would prefer.

We work with general contractors, construction managers, and developers on ground up buildings and additions across North Carolina and the East Coast, with the capacity to travel for clients running programs in multiple markets.

New Construction

Prime Out, Top Coat & Planned Punch

Built to Work Alongside Other Trades

Very few painting problems are painting problems. They are sequencing problems. Our superintendents plan around mechanical, electrical, drywall, flooring, and millwork so that our crews are productive in the areas that are ready and out of the way in the areas that are not.

That means real coordination in the field: adjusting crew size when a floor opens early, splitting teams across zones, protecting finished work from trades still moving through, and telling you before a conflict becomes a delay instead of after.

Our New Construction Process

01

Preconstruction and Scope Review

We read the drawings and the finish schedule and flag what is missing. Items that fall outside the painting scope but are necessary to complete the work get raised before the buyout is closed, not as a change order in month seven. General contractors tell us this is the part they value most.

02

Prime Out

Once walls are hung and ready, we prime promptly so the drywall team can see their work and complete their final punch against a uniform surface. Fast, clean prime out keeps the drywall and paint sequence from turning into a loop.

03

Top Coat

After drywall punch is complete, our crews apply finish coats to the specified system, sheen, and color. Containment and protection are set before spraying begins.

04

Touch Up and Closeout

We hold time and manpower for a final round of touch ups walked with the owner, the architect, or both. Punch is planned work with people assigned to it, not an afterthought squeezed in after demobilization.

Safety and Training on Every Jobsite

Our safety record is not a marketing line. It is the reason our crews are welcome back on the jobsites of the general contractors we work with most.

Schedule Discipline

We build our manpower plan to the GC’s schedule and report against it. If the schedule compresses, we tell you what it takes to hold the date. If a predecessor trade slips, we tell you how it moves our start. What we do not do is stay quiet and hope the float absorbs it.

Related Services for New Construction Projects

Chroma Coatings self performs several scopes that general contractors otherwise have to buy separately, which reduces the number of subcontractors you are coordinating.
