Commercial Drywall Repair and Restoration Patching
Most painting jobs uncover a wall problem before they uncover a paint problem. Chroma Coatings handles drywall repair as part of the finish scope, which means one contractor takes responsibility for both the substrate and the surface instead of two trades pointing at each other.
We provide drywall repair for restoration companies, property managers, facility directors, and general contractors across North Carolina and the East Coast.
Drywall Repair
The Work We Are Built For
Our drywall service is focused on repair and restoration, not production hanging. The projects we do best look like this:
- A restoration company needs 10 to 12 sheets replaced after a water event
- The bottom six inches of drywall has to come out across an entire building following a flood
- Impact damage, door knob holes, and corner bead damage in a high traffic corridor
- Ceiling repairs after a roof leak, sprinkler discharge, or mechanical failure
- Cutting and patching after electrical, plumbing, or low voltage work
- Wall repairs uncovered during a Repaint project
What We Do Not Do, and Why We Say So
We do not hang new construction drywall at scale. Production drywall on a ground up project is a volume business run on different pricing, different crews, and different equipment, and pretending otherwise would serve nobody well.
That is a deliberate limit. Our drywall work is skilled repair, which is a higher priced and more careful category than production hanging, and it is priced accordingly. Clients who need a building hung need a drywall subcontractor. Clients who need repairs done right and finished seamlessly need us.
Restoration Partnerships
Restoration and water mitigation companies work on emergency timelines with insurance carriers watching the file. They need a partner who mobilizes quickly, documents the work, and finishes to a standard that does not generate a callback.
Chroma Coatings works with restoration companies on flood cuts, water damage repair, and post remediation rebuilds. Because we also self perform the finish work, the same crew that closes the wall can prime and paint it, which shortens the timeline between mitigation and reoccupancy.
Our Repair Process
Assess and Cut Back
We remove damaged material back to sound substrate and framing. Cutting to a clean line makes a repair that disappears instead of one that telegraphs.
Replace and Fasten
New board is installed to match existing thickness and type, including moisture resistant and fire rated board where the assembly requires it.
Tape, Mud, and Sand
Repairs are taped, coated, and sanded to blend into the surrounding surface. Texture is matched where existing texture is present.
Prime and Finish
We prime the repair and apply finish coats so the patch is invisible under the final finish. On repairs in occupied spaces, we contain dust and clean the area daily.
Working in Occupied Buildings
Drywall repair is dusty, and most of our repairs happen in buildings that are still in use. We set containment, use dust control during sanding, protect flooring and furniture, and schedule after hours where the space requires it. Chroma Coatings operates 24 hours for exactly this kind of work.
